Annual Scarecrows and Cocoa on the Leffingwell House Museum grounds. Start with a Scavenger hunt in the Business sponsored Scarecrow Garden. Enjoy Living History presenters, learn about Colonial life, visit Suttler Big Bear Trading Co. and the Ye Olde Lebanon Towne Militia. Try the flavor of Colonial Chocolate, an authentic recipe from the 1800’s created by Chocolatier Robert Lecce. Outside activities are free, but we accept donations to help us heat the museum this winter!
Norwich, CT - Leffingwell House Museum - Living History Outdoors
On Saturday August 13, join us at Leffingwell for Midsummer Living History. The Lebanon Militia will be on site with their wonderful living history presenters as will Big Bear Trading Company carrying all your Colonial shopping needs! The museum will have an exhibit of two personal journals kept during whaling voyages in 1845 and 1877. They read like Moby Dick! Also you can speak with Mary Brewster, wife to William Brewster, Captain of the whaling ship Tiger. Mary sailed, with her husband, on the 1845 voyage hunting whales in the South Pacific. Immerse yourself in History at Leffingwell Aug.13, 11-3. Remember, CT Kids 18 and under are free with one adult caregiver.
Norwich, CT - Leffingwell House Museum - Life of Colonial Women
Join us at the Leffingwell House Museum on Saturday, May 14, 11-3pm for the Life of Colonial Women. See Colonial home crafts come alive with the Lebanon Militia Living History presenters, a Firepit cooking demo by Pam of Stevens Artillery, check out the wares of Colonial Suttler Big Bear Trading Company. Enjoy period music performed by talented musicians Kelly and Bob. A last minute addition--There will be delicious chocolate available by Pewter Pot Fine Chocolate!! At noon, listen as Courtney McInvale gives a presentation on Herbs and medicinals used by the household in Colonial times. Inside the Leffingwell, appreciate the Vintage hat collection of Miria Gray and see kitchen gadgets from the late 1800’s. Learn about a few of the women who lived in the house. Come Visit History at the Leffingwell. $8

Join us at the Leffingwell House Museum on Saturday, May 15 for our first Living History Outdoor Event of 2021. Colonial Lifestyle and Living History presenters. Brown's Company of Artillery will start the season off with a BANG! Basket making by Beth Ann and spinning by Terri of the Lebanon Militia, the colonial wares of Big Bear Trading Company, Tastes of Colonial chocolate by Chocolatier Robert Lecce, 1760 historic arms and see the art of a Blacksmith! Even a visit from traveling preacher Benjamin Vanderlinde. Free to everyone, donations gratefully accepted! Masks and social distancing will still be observed. Tours of the Museum will be available on request for $8/pp. Display of new acquisitions.
